Wool Cloth Diaper Covers

The soft wool is really nice against baby's skin and I think they are so dang adorable!

Wool covers can come in a wrap style or a pull on style. Many of the pull ons look like little shorts (shorties) and are usually knitted, but you can also make them out of recycled sweaters.

Wool covers can also be found in a full pant style, known as longies. They are great, especially in the winter because they keep baby snuggly and warm. They are both diaper cover and cute pants in one!

If you use flat or prefold diapers, you will need to pin or fasten them with a snappi before pulling on the short or pant covers.

Wool is an amazing thing! A completely natural fiber that will keep messes and moisture away from clothes, etc. How it works is the wool can absorb a large amount of liquid before feeling wet. In fact, a lot of the moisture will evaporate before you notice the wetness. Plus, there is some natural anti bacterial properties so you can reuse your wool covers a few times before they have to be washed (unless they get soiled with poop, then it is time to wash them).

They do take a long time to dry, so you have to do a little planning, but it is not hard!

Wool covers are not waterproof! You do need to pay attention to them getting too wet. If baby has on a very wet diaper underneath, when he sits on his butt the moisture can wick through to his clothes. It is always a good idea to make sure you have a good, absorbent diaper underneath, especially at night.

I think it is important to say that wool can be used in both the cold winter and the hot summer months. Because it is a natural fiber, it can breath, this helps to regulate temperature and keep baby comfortable, in both hot and cold weather.
