This is one of the older diapers I have made, and while it was made from cheaper materials, it still functions nicely. I simply used flannel in and out with a snap in soaker made of microfiber covered in flannel. I do have to strip all of the diapers with microfiber more often, as they tend to hold stink in, but all in all it was a cheap diaper that came out cute! Honestly, I like to splurge on the more costly materials when I am able to, but you can make a good, functioning diaper out of almost anything!
